Power for Food Partnership at IVECF 2026

Join us at IVECF 2026

The International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF) brings together high-level actors to strengthen multilateral cooperation and accelerate action on energy, climate, and green industrialisation. This year's forum is held under the theme "Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability." Together with the Agri-Energy Coalition, the Power for Food Partnership is contributing to a series of sessions exploring how integrated approaches across energy, agriculture, water, and nutrition can unlock investment and strengthen both food and energy systems.

Ahead of the forum, Judith Jacobs, Strategic Partnerships Lead at the Power for Food Partnership, co-authored a piece making the case for why energy, agriculture, water, and nutrition sectors need to start working as one. Drawing on field experience from Sub-Saharan Africa, including work delivered through the Power for Food Partnership in East Africa, the article sets the stage for the conversations taking place in Vienna. Read it here: Breaking Down Silos: Why Rural Green Growth Requires Smarter Agri-Energy Approaches.

The Power for Food Partnership's key contribution at IVECF 2026 is a deep-dive session co-organised with Energy Saving Trust, co-Secretariat of Efficiency for Access, and Energising Development (EnDev):

"Aim Higher: Overcoming Barriers to Sustainable Energy-Water-Agriculture-Nutrition Nexus Approaches on the Ground"

  • Date: 9 April 2026
  • Time: 12:00–13:20 CEST
  • Location: Rittersaal, Hofburg Palace, Vienna

Moderated by Judith Jacobs, the session brings together donors, funders, practitioners, and programme designers to tackle the real barriers to scaling integrated nexus approaches. It features facilitated debate and live audience participation, with contributions from:

  • Henok Assefa, PRECISE
  • Enas Abdella Abdulmalik, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet
  • Bas Hetterscheid, Wageningen University and Research
  • Samwel Tobiko Naimasia, Energising Development (EnDev) Kenya
  • Maja Schmauser, Energising Development (EnDev) Benin
  • John Chettleborough, Practical Action
  • Nico Janssen, IKEA Foundation (closing reflections)

The Power for Food Partnership will connect its work in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda to the global conversations at IVECF shaping investment, policy, and scale. If you are attending IVECF 2026, join us on 9-10 April and be part of the conversation. Follow the Power for Food Partnership and the Agri-Energy Coalition on LinkedIn for more updates from Vienna.
